The Fan’s strategic location within Richmond means that the best of the city’s culture and entertainment is never far away.
Arts + Culture
Located along the Fan’s western border, The Boulevard corridor is home to the best of Richmond’s museums. The famed VMFA (Virginia Museum of Fine Arts) is located here as is the Virginia Historical Society. Located just blocks away on Broad Street is The Science Museum of Virginia and Children’s Museum making this section of Broad Street especially children friendly.
A short ride to the east will yield exposure to the Performing Arts section of the city with the newly remodeled Carpenter Center/Center Stage and The National Theater (live music venue). Richmond’s Landmark Theater, located on the Monroe Park Campus of VCU, also brings an eclectic mix of concerts and shows to the Metro.
Entertainment
While any metropolitan area of over 1M is bound to have many options for entertainment, the Fan’s central location makes it close to much of what Richmond offers.
The Boulevard is the western border of the Fan District and provides (along with the Museums mentioned above) numerous fun and entertaining options. The Bow Tie Theater, located at the corner of Boulevard and Leigh streets has become a popular option for city residents accustomed to driving to Short Pump or far Chesterfield to see the lastest must see film. Also close by is The Diamond, home to the Flying Squirrels baseball club (AA Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants) whose games can be seen from I95 and whose fireworks display on July 4th is an event attended by many.
Restaurants
In keeping with the early 20th century urban design philosophy, almost every location within the Fan is within a short and reasonable walk of several restaurants and/or markets. Main Street and Robinson Streets serve as commercial corridors housing many restaurants and pubs. Lombardy, Meadow and to some extent, Strawberry Streets all have a high instances of dining establishments and markets.
